21st Inuit Studies Studies Conference in Montreal

What a great experience at Inuit Studies in Montreal. There were so many excellent keynotes and sessions. I had the honour of co-presenting with Lucassie Arragutainaq of the Sanikiluaq Hunters and Trappers Association. Together we spoke about the legacy of collaborative science to protect their lands, and on our current work to understand Inuit knowledge of salinity change in eastern Hudson Bay.  Lucassie is the co-author of Voices from the Bay, a pioneering 1997 study of Inuit and Cree knowledge. Lucassie has been facilitating research collaborations since the 1980s. He says that decades of collaborative research have been done to support his community’s interest in hunting for as long as possible.
